1 Hooke, Alfred J. 30 + 5 (Thirty Plus Five): I Know, I Was There
Alberta Institute of Applied Art 1971 First Printing Paperback Fair
265 pages. Contains numerous fascinating black and white photographic plates of historical documents which modern readers may find hard to believe. Author served in the world's first Social Credit government in Alberta in 1935 as member for Rocky Mountain House. He went on the serve until 1968 at the top levels of the Alberta government. "Knowing, as I have for so long, known, that the children of our country are our greatest asset, and knowing that the present orthodox economic system is harmful to their interests in the long run, (author's wife) has been content to take the buffeting of public criticism and to trust in God that our efforts to bring about a better Province and country in which our children, grandchildren and generations yet unborn can enjoy economic security with freedom will not have been in vain." - from Dedication. Should be most interesting reading for students of the Social Credit movement, and those who question the legitimacy of our present money system. Please note: last 2 pages are loose but present. Covers yellowed with age. Moderate wear. Worthy reference copy.
